Abstract:
Abstract Lou Pondy was one of the rare thought leaders in our field who knew how to make a science out of management and organization. His training brought about a unique convergence of Lewin’s line of social scientists with those of the Carnegie School, actively merging in the curious mind of a physicist. This multi-interdisciplinary grounding in social science meant that Pondy took a phenomenological approach to people and organizations, with data on symbolic and objective organizational realities always open to multiple interpretations. Moreover, he knew how to share this perspective on research as a mentor to encourage and nurture a purposeful balanced life.
