Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, the final chapter in Part Four of the Book, the future of the field and practice of OD is explored in detail. Indeed, OD continues to grow develop and evolve over time, and this evolution is expected into the future. Organizations and OD practitioners that fail to take into consideration where the future of OD is headed can fall into the trap of lagging behind. In such a context, organizations must be proactive and responsive to the apparent future OD of the field in order to maximize the benefits of change management and development. More specifically, this chapter examines the relationships between the current trends in OD and the future direction of the field. Most importantly, the key features of the expected future of OD are described and assessed, and the role of the OD practitioner is also explored.
