Abstract:
Abstract Integrating co-creation in health services is increasingly acknowledged to improve health outcomes and service quality. To support co-creation in this context, service design is leveraged as a process. However, there often remains a superficial understanding of what co-creation entails, its benefits, and how it can be meaningfully supported through service design. In this chapter, we detail how service design is being leveraged in the health sector to drive co-creation and catalyze a variety of beneficial outcomes. We illuminate the dynamics and challenges of co-creation through service design by presenting a case of a service design project conducted by Experio Lab in Sweden. In doing so, this chapter helps to provide a more nuanced understanding of how service design contributes to co-creation in health services.
