Chapter Chapter 8 in Idiosyncratic Deals at Work, 2022, pp 167-185 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter explores the role of workplace dignity in individualization of work arrangements. It does so by problematizing some aspects of i-deals which have not yet been discussed before, including the differences from its ‘competitor’ job crafting, the mythical properties underpinning the i-deal as ideal, and the role of ideology underpinning i-deals research. The chapter offers a way out of the deadlock of i-deals research by providing a dignity perspective on i-deals, and discusses both the ways through which i-deals may become more focused on dignity promotion, and the questions that i-deal researchers may ask themselves in conducting and developing research on i-deals in the workplace.
