Chapter 3 in HRM in the Global South, 2022, pp 53-75 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Employee outcomes are vital in the study of HRM since employees are the essence of the organisation and its most important asset. This chapter sheds light on employee reactions to HRM in Egypt, which is one of the largest and most populated countries in the Middle East. The chapter provides an overview of the concept of HRM and discusses its measurement. The main theories that have been used in the literature to explain the relationship between HRM and employee outcomes are then reviewed. This is followed by a discussion of the Egyptian context and the implications of culture and religion on the practice of HRM in Egypt. The chapter then reviews the main studies that have examined the relationship between HRM practices and employee outcomes in Egypt in the past ten years and concludes by providing future research avenues.
