A Review of Excessive Development Studies on the New Product Development Process
Giacomo Marzi
Chapter Chapter 4 in Uncertainty-driven Innovation, 2022, pp 61-71 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The inclination to design novel products and services excessively is a serious threat to the new product development process. Excessive development manifests itself in a variety of ways, with different outcomes. Nonetheless, while the problem of excessive development is well known in the new product development practices, there is a fragmented scientific debate around this concept. This chapter explores the evolution of the studies about excessive development over the time, tracing the debate around such a multifaceted phenomenon.
