Chapter 30 in The Palgrave Handbook of Servant Leadership, 2023, pp 717-742 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter describes how student-teacher relationships can be enriched through the practice of servant-leadership philosophy. In the tradition of John Dewey, Paulo Freire, and Parker Palmer, among others, servant-leadership, as described by Robert K. Greenleaf, is posited as a humanistic, student-centered alternative to traditional, instructor-centered pedagogies. The chapter offers actionable suggestions for practicing servant-leadership behaviors in the classroom to form a community of engaged, empowered, and responsible learners.
