Abstract: Abstract Leaders and followers alike are noticing a lack of softs skills in the workplace causing problems with human interaction. While this phenomenon has been a growing problem for decades, it is more obvious post-COVID-19 than it was before the announcement of the pandemic in March 2020. This chapter explores issues leading up to this phenomenon and practical approaches for improving soft skills consciously for better collaboration at work. From a strategic leadership perspective, the decision to make a conscious choice for better collaboration at work is commendable. Too often, organizations neglect to stop and strategize the best practices approach to developing a community of high performers in pursuit of an agreed-upon vision. This chapter will expand on intentionally setting aside time to create such a community for optimal health and well-being of employees, which results in peak performance for the organization. Throughout this chapter, empirical research demonstrates best practices that can be generalized to more people and places. In short, this chapter pulls together concrete, scientific evidence for organizations to use as a guide as they implement soft skills as a conscious choice for greater collaboration at work.
