Abstract: Abstract In an increasingly globalised world, this book seeks to provide a critical overview of the concept and practice of employee wellbeing in the Global South. It specifically captures the Asian, African, and South American contexts and unravels how employee wellbeing is presented, experienced, regulated, and contested in the world of work between employers and employees, among other stakeholders. Consequently, the book not only highlights the significance and impacts of contexts, cultures, the web, and new media technology, but also examines the different institutional environments (including the social and organisational justice outlook and trade union activities) that enhance or suppress employee wellbeing in employment relations, as they apply to individual countries within the three continents mentioned. With eleven chapters, the countries covered in the book include China, Pakistan, and Malaysia (in Asia); Nigeria, South Africa, and Egypt (in Africa), Argentina (in South America), Jordan, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Saudi Arabia (in Middle East), with each chapter drawing out the unique and diverse nature of employee wellbeing in its respective countries. The implications of the book for employee relations (ER) and human resource management (HRM) scholars and practitioners, policymakers, managers, and students across the Global South and beyond are discussed.
