Chapter Chapter 7 in The Leadership Spectrum, 2025, pp 93-104 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter describes leaders who are effective as supervisors. They also care about their subordinates, having empathy for them. They go beyond just a respectful relationship with subordinates to a caring, supportive one. Managerial caring involves leaders having an emotional interest in their direct reports and caring authentically about their development. Effective, caring leaders create stronger cultures where employees feel connected, leading to lower turnover and higher performance.
