Chapter Chapter 5 in Reforming Occupational Licensing in the US, 2024, pp 149-153 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter summarizes the contents of the book by comparing and contrasting the authors’ assessments of the effects of occupational licensing in the legal, medical, and financial professions and their recommendations for reforming occupational licensing in those professions. The authors agree that occupational licensing has imposed significant costs on consumers of the professions’ services. However, they vary in their recommendations of how much reform is appropriate for licensing in each profession.
