Chapter Chapter 9 in Loyalty Programs and the Currency Effect, 2025, pp 175-183 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this Chapter, de Boer and Chin explore macro and micro trends in the expanded loyalty ecosystem and translate these into practical advice for loyalty practitioners. De Boer and Chin identify the relevant factors that will impact the future of loyalty programs from a currency perspective. Firstly, the authors believe that significant room for growth exists for those who can effectively pursue the currency effect. Secondly, they identify the potential headwinds for loyalty currency operators—and outline the impact of each hurdle. Thirdly, they review the changing external environment—and how this will impact the currencies. Lastly, De Boer and Chin outline four possible scenarios for the long-term future that will impact the ability to generate the currency effect.
