Extra Life: New Power Leads to a Change of Direction

Chapter Chapter 6 in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Indie Video Game Industry, 2025, pp 141-169 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The introduction of a new powerful social actor and departure of some original cohort members is a crux event. In this chapter, a new Quarry manager begins; some members of the first cohort leave without a trace; the second cohort is given some funding; a new hybrid space is proposed; a global pandemic shuts down the Quarry. The COVID-19 lockdowns proved that the Quarry was not solely a coworking space. Would a hybrid space work for the Quarry? BAT needed to save the second cohort. Introducing a new manager led to better use of intern(s).
