Chapter Chapter 27 in Sustainable Digital Marketing for Fashion and Luxury Brands, 2025, pp 653-674 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter aims to analyse the relationships between some of the most popular concepts in the current industry landscape, namely supply chain, blockchain and sustainability, exploring how they intersect within the high-fashion industry. Supply chain is first presented, analysing the peculiarities of luxury fashion supply chains and the characteristics of a sustainable supply chain. Blockchain is then introduced, highlighting its main features, operating mechanisms, types and most popular areas of application, to identify the positive and negative aspects of this innovation. In the final part, the focus shifts to the results of a content analysis carried out based on information derived from secondary data centred on blockchain, luxury and sustainability. The analysis is conducted to investigate how blockchain is currently used within high-fashion production chains, and to what extent the implementation of this technology can be traced back to sustainability issues, which are increasingly relevant today.
