A chapter in Handbuch Strategisches Management, 2005, pp 779-789 from Springer
Abstract:
Zusammenfassung The life expectancy of companies is declining. In 1955, a company listed on the stock exchange would survive an average of 45 years. Today, that number is down to just 20 years. In other words, by 2020 half of today’s S&P 500 companies will have disappeared. Ever increasing competition is taking its toll.
