Abstract:
Abstract The Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) approach is a truly meshless method, as it does not need background meshes. In the present paper, the MLPG method is introduced for couple-stress theory that traces their roots to the work of Mindlin. The present method is an effective method for solving boundary value problems, using weak forms based on sub-domains and the Moving Least Square (MLS) interpolation. The essential boundary conditions in the present formulation are imposed by penalty functions. At last, the discretization scheme of the MLPG approach for couple-stress theory is obtained. Then two numerical examples are presented. Compared with analytical results, the present method has shown good feasibility and high efficiency.
