Abstract:
Abstract The German government has been providing a reliable risk transfer instrument for German exporters for more than 70 years through the promotional instrument of state export credit guarantees. The Hermes cover offers exporters and export-financing banks the opportunity to hedge economic and political risks. These export covers, which are often the basis for financing in emerging and developing countries, have proven to be an important foundation for transactions worldwide. This has been particularly true in recent years for business in Africa. Even though entering the African continent brings many challenges, a variety of initiatives, such as the Compact with Africa (CwA), have created facilitations for the German export industry.
