Implementing and Validating Product Strategy with Objectives and Key Results (OKR)

Cansel Sörgens ()

Chapter Chapter 4 in Digital Product Management, 2024, pp 59-86 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Objectives and Key Results (OKR) as a framework promises more focus, transparency, and above all alignment within an organization. Over the past ten years, the popularity of OKR has skyrocketed, and its use in digital product management has become indispensable. This is because Objectives and Key Results enable a customer-centric mindset by focusing product development on the impact and resonance with the target audience, rather than just on implementation speed. Moreover, when used correctly, OKR promotes the continuous development and implementation of strategy as part of the daily work of all participants in an organization. This chapter illuminates the principles of action and describes what the application of the OKR framework looks like in the practice of a product organization.
