Success Factors of Digital Recruiting in German High-End Hotels

Makiese Allé

Chapter 5 in Hotellerie in Deutschland und Österreich, 2026, pp 223-277 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract As a service industry, the hotel industry relies heavily on its staff. Recruitment and selection methods are a critical first step in generating an efficient and productive workforce for hotels. This chapter evaluates trends in the implementation and efficacy of recruitment and selection methods in the German hotel business, controlling for class category, size, and ownership. An inferential qualitative research approach was adopted by interviewing several HR & Recruitment experts from different industries. This chapter concludes that the hotel sector, at least in Germany, still utilizes outdated and cost-effective recruitment and selection practices. The findings of this study improve industry awareness of the usage and effectiveness of recruiting and selection methods, indicating the necessity for high-end hotels to re-examine their recruitment and selection methods and incorporate more modern ones into their mix.
