Abstract:
Abstract Since the implementation of China’s increased enrolment policy in 1999, the number of college graduates has increased year by year, reaching 6.8 million in 2012. Considering the number of college graduates who have failed to get employed over these years, the employment situation is even more severe. The stock and increment of college graduates entering the labour market are constantly expanding and increasing the employment pressure on them. According to the study by the research group of Education School of Peking University (Task Force of Education School, Peking University. (2011). National college graduates employment status (2009–2010). Peking University Press.), from the perspective of job supply, if China maintains an annual economic growth rate at 8–9% during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period, it can provide 8-9 million new jobs each year and arrange a total of about 60 million jobs including the replenishment of natural reduction of staff in five years.
