Abstract:
Abstract In business management, knowledge management (KM) emerged as a scientific discipline in the early 1990s. In 1999, the first Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO) position was created by Skandia, a Swedish insurance company. The core responsibility of the CKO is to manage the knowledge assets within an organization and maximize their value (knowledge assets are also called intellectual capital, intangible assets or light assets). In 1995, Oxford University Press published the book The Knowledge-Creating Company by professor Ikujiro Nonaka of Hitotsubashi University. In the book, based on case studies of many enterprises, professor Nonaka proposed the well-known knowledge creation model, which pioneered the study of KM and creation. In 2001, Thomas A. Stewart, the editor of Fortune magazine, pointed out that intellectual capital was becoming corporate America's most valuable asset in his article “Brain Power”.
