Chapter Chapter 8 in Unpacking Micro-Influence within the Australian Creative Sectors, 2024, pp 151-161 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract “Outcomes Generated”, this chapter, underscores the professional participation of micro-influencers in Social Media Platforms (SMPs), with a focus on achieving desired outcomes. While this signifies the notable impacts micro-influencers have on their networks, it concurrently brings to light the potential mental health risks associated with the high visibility of their work. This chapter also appraises the influence's value within their digital spaces often represented through digital data frameworks. Concurrently, it recognises the dual-sided potential of data for showcasing network value to marketers and privacy and ethics infringement. Considering the significant potential of micro-influencers’ impact on public welfare, the chapter emphasises the function of authenticity to instigate discussions for societal benefit. Unfolding into three sub-dimensions—inspiring action, generating public debates, and endorsements—the chapter delves into the scope of micro-influencers’ impact on their networks, the multifaceted risks, and the opportunity to effectively navigate these risks, contributing to society's positive transformation.
