Chapter Chapter 13 in Risk Navigation Strategies for Major Capital Projects, 2011, pp 159-169 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter presents a structured process for enhancing the effectiveness of project teams and improving risk navigation abilities both at the joint venture and project levels. The process is based on aligning, building and sustaining project teams by focusing on jointly developing a common vision (goals and objectives) and, adaptively managing risks and stakeholders’ expectations. The proposed process transforms contractual and project participants’ relationships into a cooperative project team with common goals and direction and established procedures for evaluating team performance and resolving issues/disputes in a timely manner. The Project Charter is the focal point of this process and is developed to achieve clarity in mission, stakeholder alignment and agreement of a plan for successful and achievable delivery of the project.
