Abstract:
Abstract This chapter provides an overview of the Macondo accident with the Deepwater Horizon mobile drilling unit, in part based on Skogdalen et al. (2012). An overview of what the investigations revealed is presented, together with the main findings. Lessons learned include well drilling lessons and lessons for emergency response planning. Environmental spill and clean-up is not covered in this chapter.
