Abstract: Abstract Typical Failure mechanisms of mechanical components are explained. Mechanical reliability is presented with the concept of reliability circle covering the whole product life cycle, which include reliability techniques for design, test, manufacturing, and operation. Reliability prediction techniques for mechanical components are discussed along with a few examples, e.g. bearings and springs. Reliability testing approaches are also briefly covered in this chapter. The importance of manufacturing process control and operational reliability are discussed. Further, the chapter demonstrates a Weibull method to analyze warranty failure data of mechanical components.
