Chapter Chapter 8 in Reliability and Safety Engineering, 2016, pp 257-292 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In this chapter component reliability and system reliability assessment methods used in structural engineering are discussed. FORM method which is evolved from AFOSM method is explained. SORM method which takes into account curvature of failure surfaceFailure surface at the design point is explained. Application of these methods in case of correlated variables is also discussed. Unimodal and Bimodal bound methods, FOMN and PCM methods which are used for system reliability assessment of structures are also discussed.
