Abstract:
Abstract To sustain a competitive edge in business, railway companies all over the world are looking for ways and means to improve their maintenance performance. Benchmarking is a very effective tool that can assist the management in their pursuits of continuous improvement of their operations. The benefits are many, as benchmarking helps developing realistic goals, strategic targets and facilitate the achievement of excellence in operation and maintenance (Almdal 1994).
