Abstract Dependability has become a critical requisite property of computer systems as society begins to rely on computer systems in ever more ways and in ever expanding domains. Whether it is in conducting our business or in leading our personal lives, we rely on computer systems delivering correct results in a timely manner, even while they execute on a wide variety of hardware platforms and are written in a babel of programming languages.
