Abstract:
Abstract This chapter will discuss major components—belt, gear, bearing, shaft, etc.—of the mechanism in a mechanical product. As customers start to operate a mechanical product, they can obtain convenience through mechanical advantage by adapting the proper mechanism. To design mechanical products, engineers should understand how to design the mechanism and its analysis, such as displacement, velocity, and acceleration. Under the environment/customer usage, the product must also robustly be designed to have enough strength and stiffness by choosing a proper material and shape. To evaluate the robustness of a product design, there are traditional methods, such as the Newtonian method, dynamics response, rain-flow counting method and Miner’s rule. However, using a systematic method which might generate a closed form usually necessitates many assumptions that cannot recognize multimodule product unsuccessfulness due to design imperfections. Therefore, we might discover solutions such as a test method such as parametric ALT in Chaps. 7 and 8 .
