Abstract:
Abstract Data transmissions often fail due to radio interferences such as noise, distortion and phasing. In order to cope with this problem, schemes of code error corrections such as Forward-error-correction (FEC), Automatic-repeat-request (ARQ) and Hybrid ARQ have been widely used. For example, in wireless communication, packet errors often occur by radio interference. FEC corrects and detects packet errors, ARQ manages retransmission requests in the presence of packet errors and Hybrid ARQ combines the features of both FEC and ARQ. These code error corrections methods ensure reliable data transmissions. This chapter surveys three optimal policies considering code error corrections in various communication systems; (1) optimal policy where data are transmitted through multicast with ARQ scheme, (2) optimal policy of congestion control scheme with TCP Reno by Hybrid ARQ, and (3) optimal policy of congestion control scheme with HpFP by Hybird ARQ. These optimal policies enhance reliability and quality of data transmissions, particularly in wireless communication and environments with potential instability.
