Chapter Chapter 2 in Essentials of Reliability Engineering, 2026, pp 39-80 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Probability and statistics are the primary mathematical approaches applied in the field of reliability. This chapter begins by introducing the fundamental concepts of probability. Then, starting from empirical data distributions, it presents several important theoretical statistical distributions. Finally, key statistical properties and categories of distribution parameters relevant to reliability are discussed.
