Abstract:
Abstract This investigation employed an integrated methodology combining nanoindentation experiments with finite element modeling to assess localized mechanical characteristics in 25Cr2Ni2MoV rotor steel welded connections. The material parameters characterizing the power-law hardening behavior were determined for distinct regions (weld metal, heat-affected zone, and base metal) through reverse analysis of nanoindentation measurements. These derived constitutive properties were subsequently incorporated into computational models to predict the macroscopic tensile response of welded specimens. Validation against digital image correlation (DIC) tensile testing data revealed strong correspondence between simulated strain distribution patterns and experimental measurements throughout deformation progression. These findings confirm the validity and precision of the nanoindentation-driven parameter identification approach for multi-phase material systems.
