Chapter Chapter 6 in Risk-Based Engineering, 2018, pp 141-235 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Probabilistic methods in the general probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) framework are at the core of integrated risk-based engineering and risk-based decisions. The probabilistic tools and methods are discussed in Chaps. 3 and 4 in this book. This chapter is dedicated to PRA, which is the analytical technique used for quantitative evaluation of risk for a complex scenario. This technique is also commonly referred to as probabilistic safety assessment (PRA). These two terms are used interchangeably among safety practitioners, but there is no distinction between them.
