Chapter Chapter 4 in Jet Fire Due to Gas Leakage, 2024, pp 67-85 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The radiant heat flux of jet fires threatens life, property and the environment. This chapter intensively reviews the point source radiation model, the multipoint source radiation model, the solid flame radiation model, and the line source radiation model. Model predictions are compared to the measured radiant heat fluxes from jet fires of different scales and jet directions. The comparison shows that the line source radiation model holds the best capacity. Finally, the integration of the line source radiation model, the gas transient leakage model from Chap. 2, and the correlations of flame length, lift-off distance and radiative fraction from Chap. 3, can effectively predict the transient field of radiant heat flux from a 90 MPa hydrogen jet fire.
