Will Computers Exhibit “Artificial Intuition”?

Jay Liebowitz and Giovanni Miragliotta

Chapter 17 in Navigating Inequities and Social Justice in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, 2026, pp 321-342 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: As we have a resurgence in the field of artificial intelligence, partly due to the generative AI craze and the advances in machine learning, we begin to wonder how far we can go in terms of AI-powered computers that emulate us in various ways. Already, there are Empathetic AI labs at various universities and companies. One distinguishing feature of humans is their ability to have intuition. As AI advances, a key question comes to mind: Will computers ever be able to exhibit intuition? This chapter focuses on this question through a Delphi survey with both AI experts and those who are studying intuition.
