Chapter 14 in Reengineering in Action:The Quest for World-Class Excellence, 1999, pp 255-271 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: AbstractThis chapter identifies opportunities for improving Business Process Reengineering activities that are based on IDEF methodology. A method is sketched for developing a functional requirements specification from an IDEF0 activity model. Issues encountered in developing information and conceptual models for document structure, business activities and record categories are discussed. The concept of control completeness is introduced as a mechanism for developing and justifying an activity model. This concept is illustrated with experience in applying the principles of Archival Science and Diplomatics to the development of an activity model for records management.
