Abstract:
AbstractIn this work, a methodology under the form of a dynamic algorithmic procedure (including 9 stages a 3 decision nodes) has been developed for scaling up of industrial processes, not based on predetermined scale levels but re-examining the necessity of the creation of a next scale after the completion of the previous one. Cost analysis is also performed by decomposing total cost into at least two conflict stochastic/independent components (partial costs) and then trying to locate the equilibrium value in the created trade-off. Simulation and break even analysis are also carried out while the existence of strong scale economies is shown by means of a case example referring to wastewater treatment through an adsorption column packed with modified biomass.
