Abstract: Public–Private Partnerships (PPPs) have emerged as a crucial model for infrastructure development and public service delivery over the past four decades. This chapter explores the concept and characteristics of PPPs, their global adoption, and their applications across various sectors. Key challenges in PPP project management, such as long-term commitment, risk allocation, and stakeholder management, are highlighted. The chapter underscores the pressing need for a comprehensive Body of Knowledge (BOK) for PPP project management to address these challenges and complexities. Methodologies for developing the PPP-PM BOK are outlined, emphasizing the collaborative effort of global PPP experts. This BOK aims to provide a robust framework for managing PPP projects effectively, ensuring successful outcomes and enhancing the practice of PPP project management.
