The efficiencies defence in merger cases: Implications of alternate standards

Abstract: This paper focuses on the economic consequences of replacing the AEW standard with either the price or the transfer standard. They investigate the extent to which mergers which increase aggregate economic welfare would be deterred by the use of either the price or the transfer standard.
