Abstract:
The Insurance Component of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS-IC) is a part of a set of coordinated surveys collectively referred to as MEPS. This set of surveys collects data on health care use, expenditures, sources of payment, and insurance coverage for a nationally representative sample of the U.S. civilian non-institutionalized population. MEPS is sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).1 The survey is designed to yield comprehensive data that estimate the level and distribution of health care use and expenditures, monitor the dynamics of the health care delivery and insurance systems, and assess health care policy implications.
