Assigning county to selected Numident records using SAS

J. David Brown and Suzanne Dorinski

CES Technical Notes Series from Center for Economic Studies, U.S. Census Bureau

Abstract: This document describes how we assign county to selected Numident records based on the reported city of birth. This work builds on previous work done by Evan J. Taylor, Bryan A. Stewart, and Martha J. Bailey, documented in CES Technical Note Series 16-01. In some cases, the reported city of birth matches to more than one county in the state, so we match to the Master Address File Extract (MAFX) to develop weights to use in modeling.
