Abstract: This note describes the construction of a set of confidential crosswalk files enabling the identification of insurance trading firms in the U.S. economy. The effort links firms that report on the Survey of Insurance Transactions by U.S. Insurance Companies with Foreign Persons (BE-140/45) conducted by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) to the Census Bureau's Business Register (BR). The files are available from 2006 to 2020 with planned annual updates.
