Linking Job Postings and Census Establishment Data

Abstract: This report describes an approach to linking job postings data from Burning Glass Technologies with the Standard Statistical Establishment List. We match employer names using cosine dissimilarity while blocking on year and state and, in some specifications, county and/or two-digit industry. We document match rates and assess match quality by measuring agreement in terms of county and industry.
