Abstract: Das Offshoring von IT-Dienstleistungen verspricht signifikante Kosteneinsparungen für hiesige Unternehmen. Viele Offshoring-Projekte erfüllen jedoch aufgrund der besonderen Herausforderungen nicht die in sie gesteckten Erwartungen. Lösungsansätze für diese Herausforderungen liegen im Aufbau einer standortübergreifenden Projektorganisation und der Verbesserung des interkulturellen und sprachlichen Verständnisses. Die Nutzung von Kennzahlen und Metriken unterstützt ein erfolgreiches Controlling. Erfolgreiche Maßnahmen zum Management und Controlling von Offshore-Softwareentwicklungsprojekten werden am Beispiel von Cognizant aufgezeigt.
