The school-to-work transition of the Moroccan dropouts from primary and secondary education

Abstract: Despite the universalisation of education in Morocco, early school leaving remains an important public policy issue. This article first identifies the socio-demographic factors that increase the risk of dropping out of school. However, the main objective of this article is to understand the impact of early school leaving on professional integration. Early school leaving traps young people in trajectories dominated by inactivity, and then each level of education they attain improves their prospects. Precarious employment, however, has a lasting impact on subsequent career paths.
