Abstract: "From an employer's point of view, social networks provide additional soft information about a potential job candidate. Thus they help to fasten and improve the recruitment decision. These advantages are of varying importance as regards enterprises and vacancies. Representative data of a business survey reveal that social networks are more widespread in small companies and in the agriculture, construction and trade sectors. Moreover, the data indicate that social networks are of greater use in the lower and upper segments of the labour market: not only jobs with low qualification requirements and poor working conditions are filled by means of social networks but also those that require leadership skills."
