Abstract: "With about 5.3 million the number of new hires was on a comparatively high level in 2012, as new results from the German Job Vacancy Survey show. However, because of structural and demographic changes the recruitment of new employees is becoming more problematic in partitions of the German labor market. For instance employers in Eastern Germany for the first time reported a longer average recruitment duration than the employers in the West and they reported a higher share of difficult hires, reflecting the negative effects of enduring low fertility rates on labor markets."
