Abstract:
"In 2013, the total number of new hires in Germany remained at a high level. Comparing West and East Germany reveals that East German firms needed more time to fill a vacancy than West German firms. Except for jobs that require a high skill level, recruiting difficulties were more prevalent in East Germany. Firms who had to make compromises in their hiring decisions tended to make them with regards to wages rather than skills or occupational experience." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
