Philippine Agriculture and GATT Reforms

Abstract: This paper examines the Philippine agricultural sector and the implications of General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) reforms. The importance of agriculture to the Philippine economy includes providing the principal means of livelihood for the more than 60 percent of the population that live in rural areas and contributing between 27 percent and 29 percent of the Philippine gross domestic product (GDP).
