Abstract:
In the context of the study “Corridors and Urban Systems in Africa” (CUSA), jointly performed by two departments of the European Commission – the Directorate-General for international Partnerships (INTPA) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) – this report presents the pilot analysis of the two largest cities in the West African Global Gateway Transport Corridor No. 2 – Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) and Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). The assessment includes various facts and trends in a wide range of domains – demography, socio-economic development, access to services, transport and connectivity, environmental vulnerability, etc. The analysis was finalised in the third quarter of 2025.
